Job Description:

We are hiring a skilled and experienced Accounting Technician in Delano, CA. Under direction you will provide a variety of routine to difficult financial and general accounting support for assigned accounting functions. Performs a broad spectrum of technical accounting support duties that include journal entries, account maintenance, data entry, report preparation and record keeping.

 

Temporary Assignment

Monday-Thursday 7:30am-6:00pm

Pay Rate: $23.14/HR

Bilingual in Spanish

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform accounting support duties including accounts receivable/payable, utility billing, cashiering, and reconciliations.
  • Review invoices and process payments.
  • Maintain ledgers, post journal entries, and reconcile reports to the general ledger.
  • Enter and retrieve financial data; generate reports and update records.
  • Provide customer service regarding billing inquiries, delinquent accounts, and service setup.
  • Handle utility payments, meter reading entries, and service account maintenance.
  • Perform cashiering duties: accept payments for various services, issue receipts, reconcile cash, and prepare bank deposits.
  • Support general office functions such as proofreading, filing, and document preparation.
  • Operate standard office and accounting equipment.
  • May assist or supervise other staff as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of financial recordkeeping, bookkeeping, and basic accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with standard office software and equipment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform accurate calculations and detailed recordkeeping.
  • Skilled in organizing data, preparing reports, and handling multiple tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal diplomatically with the public.
  • Keyboarding speed of 40 WPM.
  • Ability to interpret financial documents and apply department procedures.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Business school or college coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field required.
  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 2–4 years of clerical experience in an accounting or finance office, including bookkeeping or payroll.
