Job Description:

Our client is an established name in the film/TV industry who specializes in creating sets for game shows, TV productions, and small film projects. We are seeking a smart and eager Apprentice Carpenter to join our client’s operation, located in Northridge.

This is an entry-level position in professional set design. As the Apprentice Carpenter, you will be responsible for working with the scene designer, project coordinator, and other specialists to help assemble these sets.

You will:

·         Load, unload, and transport materials, equipment, and set pieces from the studio to the trucks

·         Utilize hand tools to cut, shape, and assemble lumber, plywood, and other materials to construct the set pieces

·         Analyze the blueprints and schematics from the art department to make sure everything comes out correctly.

·         Perform tool maintenance and storage

·         Adhere to shifting priorities and last-minute design changes

·         Adhere to all safety standards, including always wearing safety equipment

·         Occasionally assisting in the set-up and tear-down of the sets, before transport.

This is a full-time, temp-to-hire position—First Shift, from 7:30 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

This is what we will be looking for in your candidacy:

·         You have at least 1+ years of previous construction or fabrication, or other similar positions.

·         You have basic knowledge of carpentry standards and construction knowledge and methods

·         You know how to utilize a tape measure

·         You know common building materials, like lumber, drywall, and fasteners.

·         You know how to utilize power tools, like drills/drivers, circular saws, jigsaws, and others.

·         You have basic fabrication experience

·         You can read blueprints and schematics

·         Preferably, you know how to work with plywood or sheet metal
