Exact Staff is hiring for our client in Merced. We are seeking a detail-oriented and professional Eligibility Specialist to assist with housing program eligibility determinations and participant support services. This position plays an important role in ensuring applicants meet program qualifications while maintaining compliance with housing regulations and documentation requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong customer service skills, administrative experience, and the ability to manage confidential information with accuracy and professionalism.
Responsibilities / Qualifications
Responsibilities:
- Determine applicant eligibility based on income, occupancy, and housing program guidelines
- Collect, verify, and process required participant documentation
- Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential case files and records
- Assist with Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections and related documentation
- Communicate eligibility decisions, program requirements, and next steps to applicants and participants
- Review applications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance
- Provide professional customer service to applicants, residents, participants, and landlords
- Ensure compliance with agency procedures, housing regulations, and program requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in clerical support, customer service, case management, or eligibility-related work preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Basic knowledge of document verification and recordkeeping practices
- Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and program guidelines
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in housing programs, social services, or public assistance environments
- Knowledge of HUD regulations or housing authority operations
- Experience working with confidential client databases or case management systems
- Bilingual skills highly valued (Spanish or other community languages)
Pay, Schedule, and Location
- Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour

Schedule:
- Monday – Thursday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Alternating Fridays: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Location: Merced
- Employment Type: Full-Time
