Job Description:
Our client is a major importer of food service disposables and a converter of napkins, towels, and tissue paper, being one of the largest in the United States.We are searching for a smart and dilligent HR Assistant to join our client’s operation, located in the city of Van Nuys.
Hours: This is a full-time temp-to-hire position. First shift, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
This is a traditional HR position, with a little bit of receptionist work. You will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day HR operations, which mainly include maintaining employee records and processing documentation for employment.
You will also:
- Post job ads
- Schedule interviews with different departments
- Onboard new hires into the HR system.
- File documents into their appropriate folders
- Work with the HR Manager to help coordinate open enrollment and applications for health insurance
- Update the Employee Handbook when needed
- Coordinate training sessions, employee engagement events, and performance reviews.
- Keep documents confidential and follow proper procedures in document control.
- Answering the phone and answering any questions that come in.
- Taking messages and sending the appropriate message to the right manager
· Keep in mind, you will be the assistant to the HR manager. This means that you may find yourself working on other HR projects from time to time.
This is what we are looking for in your candidacy:
- You must have at least 2 years of previous Human Resources experience
- Preferably, you have a degree in Human Resources, Associate's or higher.
- You have previous experience working in an office environment and can handle high volumes of calls.
- You know how to keep documents confidential.
- You possess a high school diploma or higher level of education.
- You have great verbal and written communication skills.
- You can work independently, with a modest number of repeat instructions.
- You are familiar with MS Office products, like Word and Excel.
- You have a great phone voice, and you know how to answer phones and take messages.
