We are seeking a skilled and experienced Manual Machinist in the area of Bakersfield, CA. This hands-on role involves the setup and operation of manually controlled machines to fabricate, modify, and repair parts, tools, and equipment. As a job shop, our workload varies based on customer needs, offering a dynamic and engaging work environment.

Temp to Hire 

Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm

Pay Rate: $20.00/HR

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain a variety of manual machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, chop saws, grinders, and cutting tools
• Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, instructions, and samples
• Accurately measure and cut/shaped parts to specifications
• Fabricate components from metal, plastics, and composite materials
• Determine the correct machine setup and sequence of operations
• Monitor and adjust machine settings during production to ensure quality output
• Inspect finished parts to meet quality and tolerance standards
• Maintain accurate documentation of completed work
• Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs as needed
• Keep the work area safe, clean, and organized
• Use a forklift to load and unload materials and jobs
• Communicate job progress and updates to management daily
• Collaborate with team members to meet production goals

Qualifications & Skills:

• Hands-on experience operating equipment such as Horizontal Boring Mills, Engine Lathes, and Bridgeport Mills
• Strong mechanical aptitude and coordination skills
• Keen attention to detail, precision, and safety standards
• Proficiency in math and measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gages)
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
• Experience estimating time for job quotes is a plus
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
