Key Responsibilities

The Medical Billing Associate will support daily billing and insurance follow-up activities, including:

• Preparing, reviewing, and submitting medical claims to commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid
• Verifying patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility
• Reviewing and correcting claim denials, rejections, and underpayments
• Following up with insurance carriers on unpaid or delayed claims
• Posting insurance and patient payments accurately
• Identifying and resolving billing discrepancies and coding issues
• Communicating with patients regarding billing questions, statements, and payment arrangements
• Maintaining accurate patient and billing records in the practice management system
• Ensuring compliance with HIPAA, payer guidelines, and company policies
• Collaborating with front office, coding, and clinical teams to resolve billing issues

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred
• 1–3 years of medical billing experience (physician office, clinic, or hospital preferred)
• Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding (certification a plus)
• Familiarity with insurance billing guidelines and EOBs
• Experience using medical billing software and EHR/EMR systems
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Clear communication skills with a problem-solving mindset
