Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Optometry Technician
Location: Bakersfield, CA | Pay: $21.00/hr | Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
You will be responsible for conducting pre-testing and special testing. Also responsible for processing patient information through computer systems and helping maintain the operation of the examination room area. You will provide quality internal and external customer service. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented with an ability to multitask while working in a fast-paced environment.

Job Duties:
- Process patient information in electronic health records.
- Manage patient flow and assist with exams.
- Obtain and update medical histories and perform basic eye checks (visual acuity, pressure, pupils, etc.).
- Conduct pre-testing (auto refraction, tonometry, lensometry) and special testing (visual fields, photography, etc.).
- Prepare patients for exams, including dilation, and report relevant health concerns.
- Maintain and disinfect equipment; order supplies as needed.
- Educate patients on physician instructions, drops, contacts, and post-visit care.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and accurate documentation.
- Support the optometrist and collaborate with team members for high-quality care.
- Treat all patients with professionalism, dignity, and respect.
Additional Functions and Responsibilities:
- HIPAA compliance - Responsible for maintaining abreast of and in compliance with all H.I.P.A.A. regulations and requirements.
- Treats all member information confidential.
- Compliance - Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
- IT - Required to learn and use the EHR/EOHR (Medical Practice Electronic System) and its components. As required by the job functions and highlighted in the Policies and Procedures.
- These components include NextGen, Healthport, PMS, QSI and other electronic features, as they are developed and implemented, as applicable to work environment.
- All employees will participate in Patient Centered Health Home Model.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience
- Graduate from high school or equivalent.
- Must have thorough education or training in the basics of medical terminology
- Must be bilingual in English/Spanish
- 2 years prior experience as Optometry Technician preferred
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Flexibility/ability to work any open store hours.
- Ability and drive to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently.
