Exact Staff is hiring for our client and is seeking an experienced Purchasing Specialist to manage raw material procurement for precision sheet metal and structural projects. If you have experience sourcing steel and metals, negotiating with vendors, and working with ERP/MRP systems, we'd love to hear from you!

Position Details

Job Title: Purchasing Specialist
Pay Rate: $18.00–$20.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Hours: 5:30 AM – 4:00 PM (schedule may change during the busy season)
Overtime: Required

What You'll Be Doing

• Manage raw material requirements for carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and specialty metals using MRP systems
• Obtain quotes and negotiate pricing, payment terms, and lead times with vendors
• Monitor inventory levels to maintain material availability while minimizing excess inventory
• Ensure incoming materials and MRO supplies meet customer specifications and quality standards
• Coordinate with project managers, sales teams, warehouse personnel, and production to ensure materials are available for scheduled work orders
• Support efficient supply chain operations through effective purchasing practices

Qualifications

• Three or more years of purchasing experience, preferably in steel or metal procurement
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Knowledge of metallurgy and metal configurations, including flat bar, tubing, and plate
• Experience using ERP/MRP software
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to build and maintain strong vendor relationships
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related experience preferred
