Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Service Technician specializing in refrigeration and ice cream equipment to join our growing team. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity with the potential for long-term employment based on performance. The role involves servicing, installing, and repairing ice cream machines and commercial kitchen equipment for restaurant and food service clients throughout California.

  • Pay: $25–$60 per hour (Up to $60 for Journeyman-Level Technicians)
  • Position Type: Temp-to-Hire


The Service Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining both new and existing ice cream machines and related components. The ideal candidate will perform high-quality work safely, efficiently, and professionally while providing excellent service to customers in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer locations to install, troubleshoot, repair, inspect, and rework ice cream machines and equipment
  • Diagnose and repair commercial refrigeration systems and restaurant kitchen equipment
  • Ensure all work meets company quality and safety standards
  • Complete required service documentation accurately and communicate open issues with the Service Manager, Owner, and Dispatcher
  • Participate in departmental meetings and provide feedback from field visits regarding equipment performance, quality issues, and improvement opportunities
  • Provide professional communication and support to customers
  • Work overtime and weekends as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience servicing and repairing ice cream machines or similar refrigeration equipment
  • Experience with commercial kitchen equipment is a strong plus
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and documentation
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills
  • Ability to explain equipment operation and technical issues to customers when needed
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Professional, confident, and able to take initiative while also following direction

Requirements

  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds without assistance
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to be insured under the company vehicle policy
  • Willingness to travel extensively to customer locations throughout California
