Eugene, OR 97402 | Full-Time | Monday–Friday | $25.00/hr

Exact Staff is hiring for our client, a well-established steel fabrication company in Eugene, OR. We are seeking an experienced Shipping Department Supervisor to oversee daily shipping operations, production scheduling, employee leadership, quality control, and workflow coordination.

The current supervisor is relocating in September, and the company is looking to hire quickly to allow for hands-on training during the transition period.

This position is ideal for candidates with manufacturing, shipping, warehouse, production supervision, inventory control, or quality assurance experience.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Overseeing daily shipping department operations and employee performance
  • Managing materials and workflow to maximize productivity and machine utilization
  • Coordinating department scheduling to ensure customer orders are completed on time
  • Ensuring employees have all required materials and work orders before each shift
  • Monitoring labor efficiency and production hours against established benchmarks
  • Utilizing production dashboards and scheduling tools to track department performance
  • Maintaining accurate inventory counts for parts and supplies
  • Collaborating with engineering and production teams to improve quality and reduce waste
  • Performing quality inspections and maintaining quality control standards
  • Troubleshooting operational issues and implementing effective solutions
  • Completing internal and external documentation accurately and on time
  • Training, mentoring, and developing department employees and team leads
  • Assisting with recruiting, onboarding, and workforce management
  • Monitoring employee attendance and timekeeping
  • Coordinating preventative maintenance within the department
  • Enforcing company policies, procedures, and workplace safety standards
  • Leading department meetings and employee training sessions
  • Performing other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • Previous supervisory experience in manufacturing, shipping, or production preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints and manufacturing prints
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to multitask and work independently
  • Basic math and computer skills required
  • Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and production processes preferred
  • Forklift certification required
  • Inspection certification preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Comfortable in an indoor manufacturing environment that may be noisy and dusty, with shop temperatures varying by season (facility partially heated in winter)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to stand for extended periods on concrete floors and walk throughout the facility during the workday
  • Ability to sit periodically for paperwork and computer tasks
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform frequent bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, and pulling
  • Ability to occasionally climb stairs and ladders

Pay, Schedule, and Location

  • Pay Rate: $25.00/hr
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, occasional overtime as needed
  • Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Location: Eugene, OR 97402
