Exact Staff is hiring a Medical Billing Specialist for our client, one of the top-regarded medical clinics in Southern California, providing pediatric care alongside in-house diagnostic services, including bone density (DEXA) scanning, digital X-ray, and lab/blood work. Because so much of the clinic's work happens in-house rather than through outside referrals, the billing team handles a wider, more varied mix of coding than a typical primary care office. In this role, you'll manage the full billing cycle for both routine pediatric visits and in-house diagnostic and lab services. This is a steady, full-time opportunity with weekly pay.

This position is ideal for individuals with medical billing experience who are comfortable working across multiple service types: office visits, imaging, and lab.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Prepare, review, and submit claims for office visits, in-house diagnostics (DEXA/bone density, digital X-ray), and lab/blood work to commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid
• Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility, including any prior authorization requirements for diagnostic services
• Review and correct claim denials, rejections, and underpayments across both visit-based and diagnostic/ancillary billing
• Follow up with insurance carriers on unpaid or delayed claims
• Post insurance and patient payments accurately
• Identify and resolve billing discrepancies and coding issues, including coordinating with clinical staff when documentation needs clarification
• Communicate with patients and families regarding billing questions, statements, and payment arrangements
• Maintain accurate patient and billing records in the practice management system
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer guidelines, and company policies

Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of medical billing experience in a medical office, physician's practice, or hospital setting
• Experience billing for diagnostic or ancillary services (radiology, lab, imaging) a strong plus
• Pediatric billing experience a plus, but not required
• Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
• Familiarity with insurance billing guidelines, including prior authorization processes
• CPC or similar coding credential preferred, not required
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple service types and claim workflows at once
• High school diploma or higher required

Pay, Schedule, and Location:

• Pay Rate: $25.00-$27.00/hour, DOE
• Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday
• Shifts Available: First Shift, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
• Location: Thousand Oaks, CA (On-Site)
