Oxnard, CA | Full-Time | 2nd Shift (Monday–Friday)
Exact Staff is hiring a Heat Treat Operator for our client in Oxnard, CA. We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented associate to operate heat-treating and quenching equipment used to process metal parts. The heat treat operator will follow work orders and production instructions, set up and operate equipment, monitor the process, and inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards. This is a steady, full-time opportunity with weekly pay, and full training is provided.
This position is ideal for individuals with manufacturing, mechanical, or shop experience — no prior experience required.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Read and follow work orders and production instructions
- Set up and operate quenching equipment
- Load and unload metal parts correctly
- Set the proper temperature and processing time for each material
- Check oil and water levels during operation
- Monitor equipment and make adjustments as needed
- Ensure parts are properly covered during the quenching process
- Keep machines, tools, and the work area clean
- Inspect finished parts for damage or defects
- Measure parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools
- Check the hardness of finished parts
- Ensure parts meet quality and production requirements
- Separate defective parts and report quality issues to the Supervisor
- Enter completed orders into the company system and record production start/completion times
- Complete and sign work orders; accurately count and record finished products
- Report shortages or incomplete orders to the Supervisor
- Communicate production information and special instructions with other operators and shifts
- Report equipment problems, quality issues, safety concerns, or delays promptly
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred
- Manufacturing, mechanical, or shop training helpful but not required
- Manufacturing or machine experience preferred but not required — training provided (approx. 3 months to learn equipment and job)
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to read basic work orders and drawings
- Ability to learn and operate machinery, and use basic hand tools and measuring equipment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication skills with supervisors and coworkers
- Comfortable using a computer to enter production information
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, kneel, reach, and move around the work area
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
- Ability to climb ladders or platforms when needed
Pay, Schedule, and Location:
- Pay Rate: $18.00/hour, DOE
- Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday
- Shifts Available: 2nd Shift
