Exact Staff is seeking a reliable and motivated Referral/Refill Clerk to join a fast-paced community healthcare organization in Bakersfield, CA. If you are looking for steady full-time work, weekly pay, and an opportunity to grow with a strong team, we want to hear from you.

This position is ideal for individuals with medical office experience, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication abilities. You will coordinate patient referrals and specialty appointments, track reports, and help patients access timely care and support services.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Coordinate patient referrals at the request of healthcare providers.
• Schedule and cancel appointments with patients and outside providers.
• Verify patient eligibility and demographic information, retrieve records, and file documentation.
• Notify patients of appointments and provide any necessary instructions.
• Help patients access discounted services through hospitals, laboratories, and medical providers, particularly for self-pay and sliding-fee patients.
• Prepare authorizations for outside patient care and health plan payment.
• Track and record incoming reports in referral systems and electronic health records.
• Follow up on pending referrals, including sending certified letters when required.
• Work with outside agencies to connect patients with community resources and assistance programs.
• Collaborate with clinical staff and outside providers to support coordinated patient care.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and applicable regulations.
• Learn and use electronic health record and practice management systems.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Education or training in medical terminology and/or medical administration. Relevant medical experience may be considered in place of medical administration education or training.
• Referral experience preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with patients, clinical staff, and outside providers.
• Ability to handle requests from multiple providers, frequent interruptions, and competing priorities.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Commitment to preventive healthcare and a team approach to patient services.
• Ability to serve patients respectfully across diverse backgrounds.

Pay, Schedule, and Location

• Pay Rate: $22.00/hr.
• Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00AM-5:00PM
