We are hiring a skilled Manual Machinist for a well-known company in Bakersfield, CA. Under minimal supervision, sets up and operates manually controlled machines with skilled precision to fabricate, repair, or alter machine parts, tools, and equipment. The day-to-day tasks fluctuate to meet the needs of our customers. 

 

Temp to Hire

Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm

Pay Rate: $20.00/HR

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Operates and maintains a variety of machine tools such as; lathes, milling machines, drill press, chop saw, grinders, and a variety of cutting tools and equipment.
• Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production
• Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping
• Fabricates and shapes parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal, plastics and composites
• Selects appropriate machine and settings for given job
• Plans proper sequences of tasks to complete the assignment
• Monitors production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary
• Maintains inventory of completed products
• Checks output for quality assurance and documents appropriately
• Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs
• Maintains a safe and clean workstation
• Operates a forklift for loading and unloading materials, parts and jobs
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed
• Communicates with management daily on job status and progression

 

Qualifications & Skills:

• Excellent coordination and mechanical skills
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and safety
• Proficient in math
• Use of gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements
• Solid written and verbal communication
• Knowledge in estimating time for quoted jobs
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to perform repetitive tasks
• Experience working with a variety of machinery
